When you first press down on the accelerator, there is a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal when you press it and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. All of this process causes a delay called throttle lag. Besides, manufacturers deliberately leave the delay there because it makes the vehicle suitable for various types of drivers.

The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

Bought this for my brand new '21 CX5 Signature Turbo and it changed the way the way the vehicle performs. I know it does not add any horsepower but it creates a much better driving experience by eliminating the "dead feel" on the first 25%-35% of gas pedal application. The result is instant power, where you need it. Still messing with it a little, but have been driving it in City +2 and I am totally satisfied. Appears that I have taken a slight hit to fuel mileage (maybe 5%) but for the difference in feel I will take that all day long. Makes the car perform as it should.

Got a PC for my 2014 Mazda 6 Touring. I've always loved the M6 for its style, handling, and cost. Probably the best sedan for those former racers that need to drive a family around town but don't like trucks and SUVs. The Pedal Commander is a must-buy. It allows M6 owners to select their driving style and switch it when the family is riding along. I was looking at buying a new car before I got my PC. After getting the PC for my M6, I have decided to keep my M6 and once again find excuses just to go for a drive. If you have a Mazda 6 and have been "thinking" about getting a Pedal Commander. Recently, I purchased the Pedal Commander for one major purpose. To eliminate the hesitation and delayed response from the throttle when attempting takeoff. Practically every review that I've read expresses the joy of that back in the day experience. And the bottom line is that this is the most bang for your buck performance modification that you can do for your vehicle... period! The pedal on my 2018 Mazda 6, felt unresponsive at times, causing me to try fuel additives to hopefully resolve this issue, not knowing that this was going to be my new normal. But, now with the Pedal Commander solving that issue, my car is back to what I would consider normal, and feels like a rocket in the Sport+ mode. The Pedal Commander also has bluetooth which enables you to mount the unit inconspicuously out of the way for remote usage, and with the addition of their App, it mimics the layout of the actual unit so you can control all features from your phone. So, would I recommend the Pedal Commander? If you're looking at adding some excitement to the experience of your vehicle, and make it more robust, then... YES!

This thing works. It does not add any horse power or anything,but it definitely does change the way it accelerates.Easy to set up and use. Do not play with it while youare driving or you may get a check engine light.Been using it for a week and no issues. Has reduced my mpga couple of points but that's probably because i have been driving likean a-hole with my new little buddy. Will probably be needing tires sooner too :)I like Sports mode personally. Don't forget to warn anyone that uses your car!

Ok so people don’t explain the function of the pedal commander very so here’s my take on it. I bought it for my 2018 Mazda 6 turbo model because it had a horrible lag and very slow reaction when I would go full throttle. What the pedal commander does is it makes the throttle open faster and more instant than stock so you get that instant and full power. I’m not sure if it’s worth $300 but I’m very satisfied with mine. The responds on my car is instant now with a great off the line take off. I have it on city mode only no + or -. 4 stars because it’s pricey for not actually giving the car power but works great. FYI do not!!!! I repeat do not change settings while driving or it will trigger a check engine light which most likely it’ll be for the throttle body. But you can clear it after you turn off the pedal commander if you have an OBD2 scanner

Installation was easy enough. Seems well built but time will be a better indicator. It modifies the throttle curve, particularly at the beginning of the pedal, but that seems to be about it. I was hoping it would provide a bit control over the actual throttle position but I knew that was a long shot given it just plugs into the pedal. That said, I do like it. General driving is more spirited and the car feels peppier. You could achieve the exact same results with a heavier foot. At the end of the day, however, the ECU is determining the position of the throttle and If I shift too quickly for the available traction or get a little excited with the clutch the throttle immediately drops to around 40% (as displayed on a scan tool) and hovers there until the ECU feels I have learned my lesson at which point it will return to full open. All of this is with the pedal firmly on the floor. This situation does not present itself terribly often but it is annoying when it does and the pedal commander does nothing to solve that.The range of adjustment will allow you to set the throttle anywhere from dull to way too sensitive so there should be something for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the Bluetooth version. That is a value add because I can tuck the module where it does not have to be seen and still change settings. I will certainly enjoy playing with the throttle curves because I am into that sort of thing. Would I buy it again? Not likely. I would look for something that solves my grievance. Would I recommend the Pedal Commander? Sure. If you are looking for a device that specifically changes how sensitive the accelerator is then it works well, is easy to install, and offers a wide range of settings.
