This Miata Ditches Pop-Up Headlights for Turbochargers!

SEMA is the place for over-the-top builds, it is a place where mental car people show the craziest creations each year. This year is no different, but this baby blue Miata is the one that is seriously Pedal Commander Backyard material!

The guys at Hot Parts USA in Orlando, FL, put together this first-gen Mazda Miata. It looks like Lamborghini-V10-swapped. Yeah, you read that right, they Lambo-swapped a Miata! But closer inspection and depths of the internet tells us that it is a Chevy LT with Lambo valve covers fitted on top. Whatever engine it is, it sticks far out from the car's hood and on top of that, the iconic pop-up headlights of the NA Miata are long gone to make room for two turbochargers. Yes, you also read that right; this Miata has turbochargers instead of headlights!

It caught our attention on the SEMA Show’s official Instagram channel, and we couldn’t help but look into it. The specs are not clear, but what we could see on the car is that it has a huge intercooler sticking out from the front end, Wilwood brakes in the hopes of slowing it down, bucket seats and a manual transmission inside, an OEM hardtop which would do absolutely nothing in torsional rigidity, and a large rear spoiler which doesn’t even look like it provides the downforce to even out the probable 80F/20R weight distribution! The car is seen being towed to SEMA by an SxS vehicle, and we all hope that it runs and somehow steers one day, instead of being only a showpiece.

The purists might be close to a heart attack just because of the absence of pop-up-and-down headlights, let alone the rest, and we do feel their pain. But we cannot think of anything other than thanking the guys at Hot Parts USA for creating the least-Miata Miata on the planet. This is a hell of an inspiration!
