From Zero-Emission Muscle to Crate HEMIs: Mopar at SEMA 2024

Formerly Chrysler’s, now Stellantis’ genuine parts and authentic accessories subsidiary Mopar debuted a truck concept, an electric powertrain swapped restomod, and several customized vehicles from the group. The group also showcased numerous performance parts, accessories, and crate HEMI engines in this year’s SEMA Show.

Head of Mopar North America, Mike Koval Jr., says, “Our new Mopar concept vehicles showcase different ends of the performance spectrum, bringing innovative design and engineering expertise with a zero-emissions muscle car concept and the latest ideas for the Ram Sport truck lineup. Whether it’s envisioning an electrified propulsion system or outfitting the most capable production off-road pickups, Mopar is ready to enhance the customer experience with quality-tested, factory-backed parts and accessories.”

Mopar showcases a concept kit that they call e-Crate with their 1967 Plymouth GTX restomod—or “electromod” as they call it. The build looks to be a typical restomod, but it ditches the classic V8 and replaces it with an electric powertrain. The highlight of the build is that the e-Crate concept showcases the possibility of converting any classic or old ICE vehicle into a battery-electric vehicle in the future.

The car has a lowered three-link suspension system, 18x9” BTG Vintage wheels, and Pirelli tires. Wilwood disc brakes at each corner slow the car down. The metallic blue exterior boasts trimmed bumpers and a smooth, shaved body. A carbon fiber hood and front splitter complete the sinister look with blacked-out exterior trim.

The carbon fiber hood covers the most important aspect of the build: a 400-volt, 250-kilowatt electric drive module (EDM) installed on the frame with custom aluminum mounts. Four battery packs provide power, and the whole system gives the build an estimated range of 250 miles. The defining factor in any muscle build is the power numbers, and the Electromod Concept makes approximately 335 HP and torque. Figures like quarter-mile, acceleration, or top speed are not stated.

Stellantis best describes it: a rugged, HEMI-powered full-size truck that blurs the line between a workhorse and a weekend toy. Finished in a satin beige color with contrasting matte accents, the truck sits on the standard suspension. 20x10” wheels wrapped with 37” Goodyear tires give an aggressive stance, and the 6.4L HEMI provides power under the Mopar sport performance hood.

An aluminum platform holds extra lighting and gear above the cab, and the truck bed is lined with Mopar’s spray-in bed liner. An active cargo rack sits on top of the bed, adding more storage without compromising from the truck bed capacity. The interior features orange trims and custom-designed buddy-bench style seats, custom door panels, and a 12-inch touchscreen.

Hellephant 426 and Drag Pak 354 HEMI Engine Blocks

Dodge Direct Connection unveiled Hellephant 426 Supercharged and Drag Pak 354 Supercharged crate HEMI engine blocks and introduced a trio of new supercharger kits for supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI crate engines at this year’s SEMA Show.

Although the legendary HEMI engine lineup may no longer be offered in vehicles, Mopar will still sell the HEMI blocks to individuals for their custom builds. Hellephant 426 HEMI and Drag Pak 354 HEMI engine blocks will be available in various machined configurations to cater to custom engine builds.

Mopar also expands the Direct Connection portfolio with a trio of 6.2L supercharger kits and an E85 supercharger kit derived from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.
