WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there is a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal when you press it and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. All of this process causes a delay called throttle lag. Besides, manufacturers deliberately leave the delay there because it makes the vehicle suitable for various types of drivers.

Some may need such precautions, but the delay may become frustrating in some scenarios. Pedal Commander® is the easiest and most effective solution for Bentley Flying Spur drivers who want power instantly.

Modern vehicles have electronic throttle systems, which are completely controlled by the vehicle’s ECU. Contrary to the old cable throttle systems, the throttle valve’s opening speed and how much it opens are regulated by the manufacturer’s preset values. All of this process and electronic control cause a lag in the initial throttle response, called throttle delay. 

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller modifies the signal from the throttle position sensor so the valve opens up completely and changes the speed at which it operates. Then, the modified signal gets transmitted to the ECU, eliminating the unwelcome throttle lag.     The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:
  • Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.
  • Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.
  • Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.
  • After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.
