The Dodge Magnum is a midsize station wagon built on Chrysler’s LX platform. It shares all the goodies with the group’s heavy hitters, such as the 300, Charger, and Challenger. In its HEMI-powered SRT8 trim level, the Magnum offers muscular performance with a sporty driving character. WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there is a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal when you press it and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. All of this process causes a delay called throttle lag. Besides, manufacturers deliberately leave the delay there because it makes the vehicle suitable for various types of drivers.

Contrary to the old cable throttles, where the pedal was physically connected to the throttle valve, new drive-by-wire systems are completely controlled by the vehicle’s ECU. On top of that, the throttle valve’s opening speed and how much it opens are regulated by the manufacturer’s settings. All of this process and electronic control causes a delay in the initial throttle response, called throttle lag.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller modifies the signal from the throttle position sensor. The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

At first I was very unsure whether or not to get it but after some thought I decided to try it and it was totally worth it. It’s just like having a factory eco and sport mode on a car made before they were popular.

I am a HUGE Pedal Commander fan! I became a fan when I purchased and installed one a few years ago on my 2007 Dodge Magnum with the 5.7L HEMI in it. I loved the engine and its torque but the lag in throttle response was annoying. Pedal Commander fixed that! So I bought it for all my modern cars and I have quite a few. But here's the catch- I love Pedal Commanders so much, I have even installed them on all my exotic cars! I have one on my BMW i8 where it makes a huge difference. The electric part of the hybrid gives immediate TORQUE with the Pedal Commander. It has transformed the car completely. I have one on my Maserati GranTurismo S with the Ferrari derived 4.7 L so I can get the engine to rev into the power band quicker and get that glorious exhaust note in Sport mode. I also have one on my Bentley Continental GT W12 and my McLaren 570GT! And it even adds fun to my more family oriented vehicles: My Audi A8L, Mercedes 4MATIC E-wagon and both my Range Rovers. (Both V8s, one supercharged, one normally aspirated!) So yeah, you can say I am a HUGE fan of the Pedal Commander! Where else can you get this kind of change in performance for the money and install it yourself in just a few minutes? Yeah it doesn't add horsepower, it just gets you into the horsepower and torque sooner, which in turn makes you faster. You don't believe me? Ask the Pirelli P Zeros I just had to replace on my McLaren!

I can’t believe the difference this little component made to the performance of the car. The Sport+ setting was incredible! My car acted like it was almost supercharged! This is my third pedal commander, every Mopar I have owned got one. I absolutely love them! The Sport setting is awesome for more spirited driving and the eco setting is perfect for the snow and takes the MPG well above the EPA estimate, 17mpg highway to 26 mpg on my challenger.

Absolutely love it, its extremely easy to install, I bought 2 one for my 13 charger and one for my wifes 07 magnum, but one problem is the bluetooth setup when I tried it out it threw a check engine code for low voltage to the throttle pedal, when I cleared the code and remove the app from my phone it worked perfectly after that, that's the only issue I had with it, after I installed it in my charger I decided that I had to try it in sport+ and +4 just to see what it would do and it had my charger fighting with the traction control to keep it straight.

Does what it says and very surprised the response is as well as advertised, definitely woke up my 2005 Dodge Magnum with the 5.7 hemi.Would recommend. The highest setting said do not use but on race track etc , but I use it in town and no one has beaten me from take off to next light this thing takes the lag out of the peddle and will throw you back in your seat if your not use to it.I’d recommend trying lower settings first then move yourself up. Of course I didn’t but I should of.
