The Ford Maverick is a packed truck that Ford has introduced back in the 2021. It was the company's first entry into the compact pickup truck segment in over a decade, making the Maverick a user favorite. The Ford Maverick is a versatile vehicle that offers a combination of practicality, fuel efficiency, and affordability.

The Ford Maverick is little by truck standards, yet it is large enough to carry parts or visit the neighborhood Home Depot, among the great majority of tasks that call for a truck. In a metropolis like the city of angels, it's also compact enough to drive and park without difficulty.

How Well does Ford Maverick Perform?

The Ford Maverick offers a balance of performance and efficiency, making it a great choice for those who value both. The standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine produces 191 horsepower and packs an 8-speed automatic transmission, which provides smooth and confident acceleration. The optional hybrid powertrain pairs the same engine with a battery and electric motor, resulting in improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

In terms of handling, the Ford Maverick offers a composed and stable ride, thanks to its well-tuned suspension and precise steering. The vehicle's compact size also makes it nimble and easy to maneuver, especially in tight urban environments. The Ford Maverick also offers a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds, making it capable of light towing tasks. The Pedal Commander can be a useful performance upgrade for the Ford Maverick, especially for drivers who are looking to enhance the driving and towing experience and improve the vehicle's performance.

The Ford Maverick is also equipped with a range of safety and driver-assist technologies, including a standard rearview camera and available features such as blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warning. These features help to enhance the vehicle's overall performance by improving visibility and alerting the driver to potential hazards on the road.

Overall, the Ford Maverick offers a well-rounded performance that strikes a balance between efficiency, handling, and utility. Whether you're looking for a compact pickup for daily commuting or light towing tasks, the Ford Maverick is a great option that won't disappoint.

Ford Maverick’s Exquisite Trim Levels

The interior of the 2022 Ford Maverick was spacious and well-designed, with a modern look and feel. Standard features included:

  • A 5-inch infotainment display.
  • A six-speaker audio system.
  • Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance technologies.

Higher trim levels added larger displays, more advanced safety features, and premium materials. Let’s check out the trim levels!

Ford Maverick XL

The XL trim is the base model and comes standard with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. It also includes a 4.2-inch driver information display, a 6-speaker audio system, air conditioning, a 5-way manual driver's seat, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. On the exterior, the XL trim comes with 16-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, and manual folding side mirrors.

Ford Maverick XLT

The XLT trim builds on the XL by adding a number of additional features and upgrades. It comes standard with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine, although a non-hybrid engine is also available. Standard features include an 8-inch infotainment display with Ford's SYNC 3 system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, satellite radio, and a 6-speaker audio system. Higher trims offer options such as a B&O premium sound system, a larger 8-inch infotainment display, and a 360-degree camera system.

Exterior upgrades on the XLT trim include 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, and automatic folding side mirrors. The interior is also upgraded with cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Higher trims offer options such as leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats.

Overall, the Ford Maverick XLT offers a number of upgrades over the XL, including a more advanced infotainment system, a more comfortable and refined interior, and a range of additional features and options. The XLT is a good choice for customers who are looking for a more premium and well-equipped vehicle, while the XL offers a more budget-friendly option with a solid set of standard features.

One of the most characteristic specs of the Ford Maverick was its available rear seat that folded flat to create a cargo bed of more than four feet in length. This made it easy to transport more oversized items, such as furniture or sports equipment. The Maverick also came with a standard locking tailgate, so you could secure your cargo while on the go.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Maverick was one of the most efficient pickup trucks on the market. The base 2.5-liter engine was rated at 27 mpg in town and 33 mpg on the highway, while the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine delivered up to 34 mpg in combined driving.

Ford Maverick Lariat

The Ford Maverick Lariat is the top-of-the-line trim level for the compact pickup truck. This premium model offers a range of luxurious and advanced features, making it a great choice for those who want the best of what the Maverick has to offer.

ford-maverick-lariat

Starting under the hood, the Ford Maverick Lariat comes standard with a 2.5-liter hybrid engine that delivers efficient and powerful performance. The Lariat is also available with a non-hybrid engine for those who prefer a traditional powertrain.

The interior of the Lariat is designed for comfort and convenience, with premium materials and advanced technologies. Standard features include leather-trimmed upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats. The infotainment system is also top-notch, with a large 8-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio, and Ford's SYNC 3 system, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

On the outside, the Ford Maverick Lariat is distinguished by its stylish and aggressive design, with unique exterior accents and 17-inch aluminum wheels. It also includes fog lights, automatic folding side mirrors, and a number of other exterior features that set it apart from the lower trims.

2022 Ford Maverick Intorduced Hybrid Technology

Ford had used a hybrid powertrain for the Maverick. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined 191 horsepower was standard across all grades. Only front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission were offered with this configuration. Customers also had the option of a non-hybrid powertrain that substituted a spirited 250-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automated transmission; all-wheel drive was an extra.

The Maverick's optional turbo four made it feel positively nimble on the road, and at the test track, it took 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. In testing, the hybrid powertrain was less nimble and took 7.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, but it nevertheless completed the task. The Maverick's suspension was fairly rigid, which resulted in a slightly bumpy ride over cracked pavement in order to deliver its remarkable payload capacity.

Best Modifications for Ford Maverick

The Ford Maverick is a versatile and capable compact pickup, and there are a number of modifications that can be made to enhance Ford Maverick’s performance and appearance. Here are some of the best modifications for the Ford Maverick:

  • Suspension upgrade: Improving the suspension can greatly enhance the handling and ride quality of the Ford Maverick. Upgrades such as performance shocks, sway bars, and lowering springs can be installed to improve the vehicle's cornering ability and reduce body roll.
  • Exhaust system: Installing a performance exhaust system can help to increase the engine's power and produce a more aggressive exhaust note. A high-flow exhaust system can also reduce backpressure and increase fuel efficiency.
  • Throttle Response Controller: A throttle controller is a device that adjusts the responsiveness of the throttle in a vehicle's engine. It works by adjusting the signal sent from the throttle pedal to the engine control unit (ECU), which controls the amount of fuel and air that is supplied to the engine.

The purpose of a throttle response controller is to improve the vehicle's acceleration by reducing the lag or delay that often occurs when the accelerator pedal is pressed. This lag is due to the time it takes for the ECU to process the signal and adjust the fuel and air supply accordingly.

By modifying the signal from the accelerator pedal, a throttle response controller can reduce this lag and make the engine respond more quickly to inputs from the driver.

  • Wheels and tires: Upgrading the wheels and tires can improve the vehicle's traction, handling, and overall appearance. Larger, wider wheels and high-performance tires can be installed to increase the vehicle's grip and stability, while also giving it a more aggressive look.
  • Brake upgrade: Upgrading the brake system can help to improve the vehicle's stopping power and responsiveness. High-performance brake pads, rotors, and calipers can be installed to increase the brake's effectiveness and reduce fade.
  • Engine tuning: Engine tuning can improve the vehicle's performance by increasing its horsepower and torque output. This can be done through the installation of a performance chip or through custom tuning of the vehicle's engine management system.

It's important to note that these modifications can have a significant impact on the vehicle's performance and should only be performed by experienced professionals, except throttle response controllers. Additionally, some modifications may void the vehicle's warranty, but there is one perfect modification if you want all the goods and none of the bads. The Pedal Commander will keep your warranty safe and sound while increasing your acceleration performance by letting you optimize and customize it.

The Ford Maverick offers a range of possibilities for customization and improvement, and the right modifications can enhance the vehicle's performance and make it more enjoyable to drive.
